Dr Kristen Kroll is a Professor of Developmental Biology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis
She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and her PhD from the University of California at Berkeley. She subsequently conducted postdoctoral research as a Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation Fellow at Harvard Medical School, working in the laboratory of Dr Marc Kirschner.
The Kroll laboratory uses pluripotent stem cells to model several aspects of human brain development and to define how transcriptional and epigenetic regulation controls gene expression during these processes. An overarching goal of their research is to elucidate regulatory networks that control development of the fetal brain and to assess how disruption of these networks contributes to neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism, intellectual disability, and developmental delay.
Dr. Kroll has received multiple awards, including the March of Dimes Basil O’Connor Award, American Cancer Society Research Scholar grant, and American Cancer Society Hope Award, and has more than 50 publications in the field of developmental biology.
