Dr. Konstantinos Vougas holds a Molecular Biology degree from the University of Portsmouth, UK and a Ph.D. from the Medical School of the University of Athens.
He is the CEO and Managing Director of DeepMed and has also been the Lead Staff Research Scientist (Associate Professor Level) of the Proteomics Core Facility of the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens since 2015.
Dr. Vougas is actively involved in big-data mining and artificial intelligence research. In 2010 he won the international Innocentive crowd-sourcing competition entitled “Predictive Data Analysis”, where his solution delivered the best predictive model among 1200 submitted solutions on a challenge to integrate and use gene expression levels and mutation status to predict phenotypic traits.
He currently leads DeepMed in developing decision support systems powered by AI for personalised medicine and computer-aided diagnosis. He has been a guest speaker at many Greek and International conferences. He is also a reviewer in many scientific journals. His published work, consisting of 65 publications in international journals, has received 4062 citations (h-index 34, i10-index: 48).
