In a significant move, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has pledged £16 million as part of its UK funding to Ukraine to address urgent needs in Ukraine
The humanitarian aid aims to provide crucial support to those affected by the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam.
UK humanitarian Aid explained
- FCDO acknowledges growing needs and allocates £16 million to empower aid partners in assisting civilians, including 32,000 individuals affected by flooding, frontline communities, and displaced populations.
- UK funding will support aid organizations in their response, with £10 million designated for the Red Cross Movement, £5 million for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and £1 million for the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
- In efforts to strengthen rescue operations and mitigate the effects of ongoing flooding, the FCDO is dispatching boats, community water filters, water pumps, and waders to Ukraine.

Additionally, as part of the UK-led Partnership Fund for a Resilient Ukraine, two specialized rescue boats, search and rescue equipment, and trauma medicine have already been provided to Kherson, aiding the ongoing rescue operations conducted by the State Emergency Services.
