Irene Selwaness is an associate professor at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University, Egypt, and a research fellow at the Economic Research Forum
She worked previously as a research fellow in the Equity and Social Policy Programme at ODI, London. She received her Master’s degree in Quantitative Economics from University of Paris 1– Panthéon Sorbonne (France), and her PhD in Labour Economics from the same university.
Her research examines issues in development economics, primarily labor and social protection in the Middle East and North Africa. Current projects include work on the future of work, social insurance coverage, life course transitions, women’s employment, and patterns of employment generation.
