David Smith

Dave is an experienced ecologist and has extensive experience of working on a range of projects including large residential schemes and infrastructure projects. He has a particular expertise in relation to birds. His PhD research focused on farmland birds and their summer food, he was a seabird observer in the Falklands working on long-line fishing boats and he revised the SNCI criteria for birds in Surrey. He is now the Chair for Surrey Bird Club, sits on the committee of CIEEMS UK Overseas Territories Special Interest Group and sat on the CIEEM working group that revised the guideline on Preliminary Ecological Appraisals. Dave lives in East Kent and calls himself a birder, applied ecologist and wildlife conservationist.”
