    Dr. Greg M. Swain is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and a member of the Neuroscience Program at Michigan State University.

    He received a B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Dallas (1985) and a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas (1991). In between  undergraduate and graduate studies, he worked as a reservoir chemist for Atlantic Richfield Oil and Gas Co. (1985-87).

    After postdoctoral fellowships at the Space Power Institute at Auburn University (1991-92) and the Faculty of Chemistry at Tohoku University in Japan (1992-93), he began his academic career in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Utah State University (1994). He relocated to MSU in 2000.

    His group conducts research at the interface between analytical chemistry and material science that impacts several fundamental problems in human health, the environment, and material stability. He is the Editor-in-Chief for the journal, Electroanalysis (Wiley). He currently serves as the Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research Education Coordinator for The Graduate School and as the Director of Research Integrity at MSU.
