Dr. Sourav Banerjee, an ASME Fellow, is currently a professor, and Michael J. Mungo Teacher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Carolina (USC), Columbia, South Carolina, USA
He has been serving as a Director of the Integrated Material Assessment and Predictive Simulation Laboratory (i-MAPS) at USC since 2012. Dr. Banerjee has published more than ~150 research articles out of which more than ~80 is in peer reviewed international Journals. He has authored three book chapters and two books on wave propagation, ultrasonic modelling and topological acoustics.
He received numerous awards, like Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) person of the year award 2019, Breakthrough Star award 2019, Achenbach Medal 2010 to name a few. Dr. Banerjee is serving as an executive committee member of the ASME NDPD division. He serves as an editorial board member and as an associate editor of several international journals.
Dr. Banerjee received Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics and Applied Mathematics from University of Arizona, Tucson, USA, in 2005. M.Tech in Structural Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, India in 2002 and the B.E. in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), formerly known as Shibpore BE College, India in 2000.
