Anik Meunier is a full professor in museology and education at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM).
She completed a PhD (jointly supervised) in the field of education at UQAM and in mass communication and information sciences (museology) at Avignon University in France. Her doctoral thesis won the Prize for best dissertation completed under joint supervision (Ministry of External Relations of Quebec and Consulate of France in Quebec). She kept researching with a postdoctoral fellowship at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, where she also worked as a visiting professor.
Since 2005, she is Professor at the Department of Didactics and at the post-graduate studies program in museum studies at UQAM. For the past few years, she has developed expertise in museology and more specifically in museum education and transposition of scientific contents into thematic exhibitions, combining theory and practice within the Quebec museums network and at the international level (Europe, Latin America, and Asia). A subsequent number of scientific publications and papers reflect her expertise. Dr. Meunier regularly contributes to the organization of scientific conferences (seminars, symposia) where exchanges about museology research takes a central place.
She also participates in various research projects funded by research institutions in Canada and Quebec. In 2009, she took the scientific lead of the Research Group on Museum Education (GREM) affiliated to the Faculty of education of UQAM. In 2021, she won the Research Award for her achievements in the museum education field awarded by the Faculty of Education of UQAM.
