A recent study conducted by Horizon Aircraft reveals that 73% of Canadians support the development of air taxi services, aiming to create jobs and reduce congestion

A nationwide research study conducted by Canadian-based company Horizon Aircraft indicates a surge in support for the development of air taxi services in Canada.

According to the study, 73% of Canadians are in favour of the air taxi and electric Vertical
Take-off and Landing (eVTOL) industry.

Growing support for air taxi services

Recent surveys indicate a significant rise in public support for the emerging air taxi industry.

In a recent poll, an overwhelming 78% of participants expressed their enthusiasm to fly in these innovative electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) vehicles once they are available for commercial use.

This surge in support reflects a growing acceptance of advanced transportation technologies and a willingness to embrace futuristic modes of travel. However, a small fraction of respondents, accounting for only 7%, expressed a reluctance to utilize eVTOLs, citing concerns or personal preferences.

The remaining 15% of participants remained undecided, indicating the need for further information and reassurance before forming an opinion.

Job creation and economic growth in Canada

One of the driving factors behind the strong support for the air taxi industry among Canadians is the potential to create jobs and stimulate the Canadian economy.

The research conducted by Horizon Aircraft highlights that 75% of Canadians believe the government should increase its support for the sector to generate more employment opportunities.

Furthermore, 68% of respondents expressed their desire for Canada to become a global leader in eVTOL development.

Environmental impact and congestion reduction

In addition to job creation and economic growth, Canadians recognize the positive environmental impact of air taxis.

Approximately 74% of respondents believe that utilizing eVTOLs will alleviate traffic congestion in urban areas and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

This perception aligns with industry data, which forecasts significant revenue growth in the global air taxi and urban air mobility sector from $2.3 billion in 2021 to a staggering $30.7 billion by 2031. It is expected that over 430,000 air taxis will be in operation worldwide.

Canadian advantages and Horizon Aircraft’s innovative approach

According to the Horizon Aircraft study, 69% of Canadians believe that the country’s geography and landmass offer significant advantages over other nations, providing a compelling case for developing a robust eVTOL market.

Horizon Aircraft, a leading innovator in hybrid electric Vertical Take-off and Landing (eVTOL) aerial vehicles, is poised to capitalize on this potential. The company’s flagship eVTOL aircraft, the Cavorite X5, is slated for use by business aviation travellers as early as 2026.

The Cavorite X5 boasts a vertical takeoff and landing capability, similar to a helicopter, but with nearly twice the speed and a fraction of the cost.

With a maximum passenger capacity of four plus a pilot, a payload of 500 kg (1,100 lb), and an average range of 800 km (500 miles), the aircraft promises efficient regional transportation.

Horizon’s innovative approach allows the Cavorite X5 to fly 98% of its mission as a traditional aircraft, making it safer and potentially easier to certify compared to other eVTOL designs.

Canada enthusiastically supports development

With rigorous testing of their 50%-scale prototype already underway, Horizon Aircraft has garnered significant interest from industry stakeholders, securing grants and a prestigious advanced research and development contract award from the US Department of Defense.

The company aims to stay ahead of competitors and pave the way for Canada to emerge as a global leader in the rapidly expanding eVTOL market.

In summary, Canadians are enthusiastically supporting the development of air taxi services, recognizing the potential for job creation, economic growth in Canada, and environmental benefits.

Horizon Aircraft’s innovative eVTOL designs position Canada to play a leading role in this burgeoning industry, poised to revolutionize urban mobility and regional transportation.
