Professor Aarno Dietz is a specialist in audiology, otoneurology, skull-base and cochlear implant surgery
He currently Clinical Director of the Center of Excellence for Sense Organ Diseases at the Kuopio University Hospital, Finland. He is a member of the EU expert panel on medical devices and leads the ‘Towards better hearing’ research group. Professor Dietz’ research includes the development of new clinical audiological tools for optimizing hearing rehabilitation, experimental and clinical cochlear implantation research including new imaging techniques, and tele-audiology and eHealth applications.
He has recently teamed up with Professor Seppo Ylä-Herttuala, who is a pioneer and international leader in cardiovascular gene therapy, for research in inner ear gene thearpy.
