Andrea Bertschi-Kaufmann, Dr. phil., is Professor Emeritus of Reading Research and Literary Didactics at the School of Education of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (PH FHNW) and Private Lecturer at the University of Basel/Switzerland. At the PH FHNW, she directed the Reading Centre from 2002-2007 and the Institute for Research and Development from 2008-2017.
Her work focuses on literacy and literary learning and its development in children and adults.
She is a winner of the Hans Aebli prize for outstanding achievements in the field of teacher education and the CORECHED prize for research in education. She has been active in various committees in the Swiss educational landscape, including the Foundation Board of the Swiss Institute for Childrend’s and Youth Media (SIKJM).
