Dr. Christie del Castillo-Hegyi is an American Board-Certified Emergency Physician, newborn brain injury and breastfeeding complications and infant feeding researcher. She has coauthored articles with the Global Development Disability Research Collaborators on global rates of neurological and developmental disabilities in children. She studies the scientific literature on newborn brain injury from jaundice, dehydration, hypernatremia, and hypoglycemia from insufficient infant feeding related to low milk supply. She cofounded the Fed Is Best Foundation, an organization of health professionals and parents that advocates for safer breastfeeding and formula feeding policies and education. She coauthored the book Fed Is Best and has developed the online Fed Is Best Breastfeeding Course.
