Daniel Rennie, CEO of Leilac, is a recognised leader in industrial decarbonisation, driving innovative solutions for the cement and lime sectors—industries responsible for 8% of global CO₂ emissions.
Since joining Calix in 2014, Dan has been instrumental in exploring how its breakthrough technology could revolutionise these industries. Under his leadership, the success of the first and second Leilac projects, which demonstrated a step change in capturing unavoidable CO₂ emissions, led to the establishment of Leilac as a standalone company in 2021.
Dan’s work goes beyond leadership. With a background in history from St Andrews University and experience in the electricity sector, he has contributed to global decarbonisation efforts as a regional representative for Europe at the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute (GCCSI). He also managed the European CCS Demonstration Project Network, comprising seven large-scale projects.
