David Buick moved to France from his native UK in 1985. A local prison chaplain in Rennes since 2003, he was regional protestant prison chaplain for North-West France from 2011 to 2020, overseeing chaplaincy activities in some 20 prisons.
In 2015 he joined the Worldwide Steering Committee of the International Prison Chaplains Association (IPCA) as a representative for Europe before becoming President in 2020. He has visited over 40 prisons in Europe, North America and Asia.
IPCA is an ecumenical NGO that seeks to unite, encourage and equip a global network of chaplains. As an organisation with special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the UN, IPCA regularly collaborates with other faith groups and secular non-profits on all matters concerning criminal justice.
