Dawn Purchase began her career at the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) in 2003 and has worked on all aspects of the Aquaculture and Fisheries Programme
She now holds the role of Aquaculture Programme Manager. Dawn developed the MCS Aquaculture Programme in 2005 commencing with the Principles and Criteria for Sustainable Fish Farming, a document that set out MCS definitions and guidelines for best environmental practice for UK marine finfish farming. Since then Dawn has held positions on the Standards Oversight Committee for Global Aquaculture Alliance; Director on the board for IFFO RS Responsible Feed Standard and as a Steering Board Member of the Aquaculture Stewardship Councils Feed Standard.
Dawn currently represents NGO’s on Scottish aquaculture policy forums as well as advising the supply chain on farmed fish procurement policies and on-going research into best environmental practice for the future of aquaculture. She is current on the Technical Working Work for the Global Aquaculture Alliance Best Aquaculture Practice salmon standard.
Dawn graduated in 2003 with an MSc in Coastal Zone Management from Bournemouth University, previous to her first degree in Geology with Biology Dawn had 12 years business experience.
