    Dr. Ermita Hernandez obtained a master’s degree in Plant Pathology and a doctoral degree in Horticultor with a minor in Entomology from The Pennsylvania State University

    She started her professional carrier as an Assistant professor at the University of Puerto Rico in 2014 where her research and extension program focus on the evaluation of sustainable management practices for various vegetable crops.

    Some of her earlier works were evaluating various organic soil amendments combined with other strategies to help revitalize vegetable production in different regions of Puerto Rico. In 2021, she was designated to occupy the position of Vegetable and Basic Grain Program Leader at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez.
