    Guo-Xing Miao

    Professor
    University of Waterloo

Prof. Miao received PhD from Brown University and postdoctoral training from MIT, and subsequently promoted to Research Scientist at MIT. He later joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, and became a member of the Institute for Quantum Computing. Prof. Miao’s research focuses on developing novel quantum material platforms, such as topological insulators, unconventional superconductors, and 2D materials, to investigate the intertwined transport of electrons, spins, and ions in solid-state systems. These scientific advancements enable complex applications towards topological quantum computing, compute-in-memory, neutral networks, and renewable energy storage. Specifically, the spin-iontronic neural networks are developed and engineered to be fully compatible with the mainframe CMOS architectures for ready adoptions. He is senior member of IEEE and recipient of the Ontario Early Researcher Award.
