Dr. Hani N. Sabbah is the Director of Cardiovascular Research at Henry Ford Health, Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University, and Professor of Medicine Research at Michigan State University
He received a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from University of Oklahoma and Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences and Medical Physics from Oakland University. The Henry Ford Cardiovascular Research Laboratories function as a multidisciplinary center focused on understanding the pathophysiology of heart failure and development of novel therapeutic modalities. Laboratories directed by Dr. Sabbah include biochemistry, molecular biology, cell electrophysiology, pathology, immunohistochemistry, and organ and whole-body physiology.
Dr. Sabbah is the principal investigator on numerous research grants, awards, and contracts from the National Institutes of Health and various health organizations and industries. Dr. Sabbah is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Physicians, Heart Rhythm Society, American Heart Association, Heart Failure Society of America, and member of the American Physiological Society. He has authored over 25 book chapters, 50 review articles, 400 original peer reviewed articles, and 650 abstracts. Dr. Sabbah was the 2009 Program Co-Chair of the American College of Cardiology and is a member of numerous other committees on cardiovascular disease.
He was the recipient of the 2005 American Heart Association Seymour Gordon Award for Distinguished Achievement and 2002 Crain’s Detroit Business Award for Advancement in Health Care. Dr. Sabbah is a member of the editorial board of several peer-reviewed scientific journals and Co Editor-in-Chief of Heart Failure Reviews.
