Joseph Najjar is a candidate in the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago
Joseph completed undergraduate studies at Occidental College in Los Angeles where he earned a degree in Chemistry. At Occidental, he worked with Dr. Andrew Udit to develop a system for direct electrochemical reduction of cytochrome P450 for biocatalysis. He plans to pursue a Ph.D. in a medical science, and focus his future research on synthetic biology and the microbiome. Clinically, he hopes to work in a subfield of pediatrics.
