Dr. Kati Rantala obtained her PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Helsinki in 2001. In 2007, she was awarded the title of Docent in Sociology by the same university. Her extensive educational background also includes developmental psychology and theoretical philosophy, making her expertise highly versatile. She is currently serving as a Research Director at the University of Helsinki’s Faculty of Social Sciences. In this role, she leads multidisciplinary research consortia, secures significant research funding, mentors doctoral and undergraduate students, and teaches Sociology of Law. Beyond academia, Dr. Rantala has held significant roles in government bodies and has been actively involved in various regulatory policy activities. In addition to legislative research, she has published work on consumer debt and criminal policy.
