Bio: Kym Ward is Dementia Project Coordinator at The Brain Charity, running the charity’s Music Makes Us! project for people living with dementia. Music Makes Us! combines speech and language therapy with singing and physiotherapy with dance, and runs in care homes across Merseyside.
Kym is also a director at Bidston Observatory, an artistic research centre based on the Wirral. She has over ten years of experience in running Socially Engaged Arts projects, both designing and conducting Arts-focussed research. She explores methods of non-verbal communication with user groups, using a person-centred approach to develop Arts-based health interventions. Her work has been supported by the Mondriaan fonds (The Netherlands), Goethe Institute (Germany), and she is currently a recipient of FRart Research award (Belgium).
