Dr. Lynch is an Assistant Professor at the University of Idaho (Moscow, Idaho, USA) in the Department of Soil and Water Systems
As an ecosystem ecologist, Laurel uses the tools of biogeochemistry to track how carbon and nutrients flow through the landscape. She is particularly fascinated by complex biological interactions (e.g., plant-microbial-animal) and the recovery of ecosystem function following disturbance, such as from permafrost thaw in the Arctic, wildfire in temperate forests, and disease spread in Australia.
She was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell University and a Graduate Student Research Fellow at the Pacific Northwest National Lab. She holds a PhD in Ecology from Colorado State University and a BA in Biology from St. Olaf College.
