Michael Bevington has been the Chair of the Trustees of the charity Electrosensitivity UK since 2008. The charity seeks to help people suffering from Electrosensitivity (ES) and Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS) caused by manmade radiofrequency radiation (RFR) and electromagnetic fields (EMFs), and to inform others of this condition with its wide spectrum of sufferers. He has published books and papers on Electrosensitivity and related topics, including low-level sensitivity to geomagnetic disturbances.
Michael was made electrically hypersensitive in 2006 when Wi-Fi was installed in his workplace. He then also developed sensitivity to mobile phones, phone masts and other radiation devices. Despite employer accommodations at first, he was later forced out of his full–time job by high levels of RFR.
Since 2006 he has seen a significant change of attitude towardsElectrosensitivity, from ignorance or hostility to acceptance and research on it as an established non-thermal physical effect, now recognised by involved mainstream scientists. In particular, the Scientific International Consensus Report on EHS of 2021 by 32 experts worldwide confirmed that EHS is a physiological condition with a variety of biochemicalmarkers and genetic haplotypes, and not a psychological nocebo response.
Like other people with ES and EHS, he has had cancers, one of the many symptoms of ES and EHS. Nonthermal RFR is currently classified as a 2B carcinogen and leading scientists now say that new evidence requires that it should be a class 1 known carcinogen.
