    Monica joined The Health Policy Partnership in July 2021 as a Senior Researcher. She is currently involved in the lung cancer screening programme of work

    Monica has experience in planning and conducting participatory stakeholder engagement processes for EU-funded projects. Before joining HPP, she worked at PETRAS National Centre of Excellence, at the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy (STEaPP), UCL, where she delivered analyses of policy developments and research trends for the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence applications in healthcare. She previously worked on several projects coordinating research and making policy recommendations to the European Commission.

    She has also worked on capacity-building projects for biosafety regulatory systems in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean region for genetically modified crops, including health, environmental and socioeconomic impacts, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the United Nations Environment Programme.

    Monica holds a Certificate in MBA Essentials from the London School of Economics and Political Science, a PhD in Global Social Studies from Doshisha University, Kyoto, Japan, a Master’s in Engineering from Nagoya University, Japan and a Bachelor’s in Medicine from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Iasi, Romania.

    Having lived and worked in Romania, Japan, Italy, Austria and the UK, Monica is fluent in English, Romanian and Italian, with conversational skills in French and Spanish.
