Papa Alioune Seck is the Chief of the UN Women’s Research and Data Section at UN Women
He leads the organization’s research, data and statistical, and technology and innovation, including UN Women’s flagship Women Count global gender data programme, the planning and development of research and strengthening the production, dissemination and use of knowledge to enhance UN Women’s competence and credibility as a global broker of knowledge on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Papa was the lead author of the 2024 SDGs Gender Snapshot. Since joining UN Women in 2009, Papa has co-authored several editions of UN Women’s Flagship Reports and contributed to various other research products. Before joining UN Women, Papa worked in UNDP’s Human Development Report (HDR) Office, co-authoring three global HDRs and a book on risk, vulnerability and human development.
