Dr. Patrick Stroman did his undergraduate degree in Physics at the University of Victoria, Canada, and a PhD in Applied Sciences in Medicine at the University of Alberta, Canada, where he focused on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology.
He did a postdoctoral fellowship at Laval University in the Quebec Biomaterials Institute, and then worked in the MR Technology group at the Institute for Biodiagnostics, National Research Council of Canada in Winnipeg. In 2004 he joined the Centre for Neuroscience Studies, Queen’s University, as the Director of the MRI Facility.
He is now a Professor in the Centre for Neuroscience Studies, and is in the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences, and the Department of Physics. His research remains focussed on the development of innovative functional MRI data acquisition and analysis methods for studying neural activity related to pain processing at all levels of the central nervous system; the brain, brainstem, and spinal cord.
