Jeffrey Linsky is an astrophysicist who studies the ultraviolet and high energy radiation of stars, their effects on exoplanet atmospheres, and the possibility of extra-terrestrial life.
His research includes observations of stars using the Hubble Space Telescope and other spacecraft to infer the radiation and strength of stellar winds. He also studies the interstellar gas between nearby stars.
As a hobby he has observed a large number of total solar eclipses. He is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences at the University of Colorado in Boulder and is a retired Fellow of JILA, a joint institute of the University of Colorado and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
