Professor John Ure is an economist, author, and researcher who has worked for UN agencies such as the World Bank, the IFC, the ITU, UNDP, UNESCAP, and many private sector companies, policymakers and regulators across the Asia Pacific and Central Asia.
Professor Ure is the principal author and editor of Telecommunications Development in Asia (HKU Press 2008), Achieving the UN Sustainability Goals: Late or Too Late? (Emerald Publications October 2024), among many other research papers and publications in international journals. He was a Professor and Director of the Telecommunications Research Project (TRP) at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) until 2007, and since 2019 is the Project Director of its successor, the Mobility Research Project.
