Professor Robert Winglee is a Professor in the Department of Earth and Space Sciences at the University of Washington
He is also the Director of the Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium and the Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pipeline.
Prof. Winglee has extensive experience in space plasma physics and engineering, particularly in relation to the space environments around the planets and advanced space propulsion systems with nearly 150 publications. His research efforts were featured on the Discovery Channel “Science of Star Wars” 2005 and Mars Rising 2007. He is a Fellow of NASA’s Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) and is presently developing a potential sample return system from small solar system objects. He was the recipient of the 2001 DISCOVER Magazine Awards for Technological Innovation, sponsored by the Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation, Aerospace category, and the 2014 University of Washington Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year.
