Dr Simona Tavolari is adjunct Professor for the School of Specialization in Medical Oncology at University of Bologna (UNIBO, Italy) and research associate at Department of Experimental, Diagnostic and Specialty Medicine (UNIBO)
Dr Simona Tavolari achieved a degree in Biological Sciences in 2002 at UNIBO and a Ph.D in Molecular Physiology in 2007 at University of Padoa (Italy). Her research interests are neoplastic diseases, with a particular focus on biliary tract tumors.
In this sector, Dr Tavolari is interested in the development of new treatments and the identification of prognostic and predictive molecular markers of response to chemotherapy/target therapies in patients with cholangiocarcinoma. Another area of research in the field of biliary tract tumors is the identification, by next generation sequencing analysis, of molecular markers in cholangiocarcinoma patients stratified by various risk factors, in particular asbestos.
She is member of the European Network for the Study of Cholangiocarcinoma (ENSCCA), a European network that aims to promote international studies and collaborations on cholangiocarcinoma, and author of numerous publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals.
