Professor Emeritus Thea Brown AM is a Social Work academic, researcher and activist working in family violence
Her Family Violence and Family Law team’s studies of child abuse and family law lead to the creation of an ongoing specialist program in the Family Court of Australia and to membership of national committees reforming the Australian family law service system. Subsequently her team reviewed the service system again, leading to new Family Law legislation for Family Violence
She researched Men’s Behaviour Change Programs nationally with ultimate changes to funding and policy. She is one of the founding directors of the Monash Deakin Filicide Research Hub, which has carried out three filicide studies and which has held a series of international filicide conference in Prato Italy, and in Australia.
