One of the key contributors is Professor Preethi Kesavan, Director of Studies and Head of the School of Advanced Technology and Digital Media at the London School of Business and Finance in Singapore, and we warmly welcome her return. This time, she analyses the Singaporean perspective on science and technology in advancing global healthcare.

In another feature, Álvaro Mendez and Chris Alden from LSE IDEAS at the London School of Economics and Political Science analyse China’s growing influence in Latin America, focusing on trade, diplomacy, and strategic impact. They explore the rapid expansion of the People’s Republic of China’s commercial activities in Latin America and the Caribbean in recent years.

We also present two editorials from the Everest Group. The first, by Aarthi Janakiraman, Research Director of the Advanced SciTech Division, thoroughly examines the role of AI in sustainable agriculture. The second, by Isaac Premsingh, Research Director, discusses how low-carbon mobility-as-a-service converges with energy prosumption for future cities.

Rare Diseases International works with the World Health Organization to advocate for health equity regarding rare diseases. Egypt and Spain are sponsoring a resolution titled “Rare Diseases: A Priority for Global Health Equity and Inclusion” at the 2025 World Health Assembly, with support from countries like Malaysia, France, Panama, Chile, and the Philippines. If passed, this resolution will enhance previous policy efforts, including the 2021 UN Resolution on the challenges faced by individuals with rare diseases, aiming to improve their lives globally.

Concluding this diverse array of articles, Todd Anderson, Chief Technology Officer at PHINIA, provides an alternative perspective on the role of alternative fuels in the transition to clean energy. The conversation emphasises that the path to achieving net-zero emissions is not uniform; it varies significantly across different regions and is influenced by local economic, regulatory, environmental, and infrastructural factors.
