The European Innovation Council (EIC) is making big developments to accelerate the growth of Europe’s deep tech sector, as the EIC Trusted Investor Network continues to expand its reach

Recently, the network welcomed 37 new members, making the total number of investors involved to 111.

These investors collectively manage €336 billion in assets, and their collaboration promises to bring key support to the continent’s most innovative and high-potential startups.

The Trusted Investor Network

The Trusted Investor Network is a strategic initiative designed to unite leading investors, including venture capital firms, corporates, and institutional investors, all of who share a common goal of nurturing deep-tech companies that are ready to scale.

By co-investing alongside the EIC Fund, these investors play a key role in fueling the growth of groundbreaking startups across Europe, helping them access the financing they need to compete globally.

Helping deep tech companies scale up

With 37 new members, the EIC Trusted Investor Network now has an even more challenging registration of investment powerhouses. These members are spread across various sectors, from corporate investors to long-term institutional investors, ensuring a wide range of expertise and resources are available to the startups they support.

The network now manages a €336 billion in assets, providing a significant pool of capital that can be deployed to help European deep-tech companies scale rapidly.

The EIC Fund has always recognised for its successful investment track record. Since its inception in 2021, the fund has completed over 150 investment rounds in startups and SMEs.

This includes 60 investment rounds in 2024 alone, showing the fund’s growing impact on the European startup ecosystem. The EIC Fund’s ability to attract private investors is particularly impressive, which has been key in unlocking additional funding.

The fund has secured over €1.6 billion in co-investment from private sources, which has helped to generate more than €3 in additional investment for every euro of direct funding provided by the EIC Fund.

The Trusted Investor Network role in promoting these co-investments

By bringing together investors with a shared vision of supporting deep-tech innovation, the network ensures that high-potential companies can secure the funding they need to scale.

This is particularly important in deep tech, where companies often face significant barriers to securing investment. These companies are typically high-risk but have enormous potential to revolutionise industries such as healthcare, energy, and artificial intelligence.

Europes role in deep tech innovation

By creating an ecosystem of supportive investors, the EIC Fund is helping to bridge the financing gap that many high-potential startups face. The ultimate goal is to enable these companies to grow, scale, and compete internationally, driving technological advancements that will benefit Europe and the world.

The EIC Trusted Investor Network was first established in 2024, with 71 investors managing €90 billion in assets. Since then, it has grown exponentially, reflecting the increasing interest in European deep-tech innovation.

The network continues attracting like-minded investors aligned with the EIC’s mission of supporting breakthrough technologies. Investors interested in joining the network can contact the EIC Fund team through a dedicated contact channel.

With the network’s continued expansion, the EIC Trusted Investor Network is set to play an even greater role in shaping the future of Europe’s deep-tech sector. Encouraging collaboration between private investors and public funds is creating a more robust investment ecosystem that will help European startups achieve their full potential on the global stage.
