The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) hosting the International Trade Week (ITW) again this year, offering UK businesses a new opportunity to tap into global markets

From Monday, November 11th, to Friday, November 15th, 2024, a range of free events, workshops, and webinars will be available for companies of all sizes, helping them navigate international trade and expand their global reach.

Supporting UK businesses

Sponsored by Santander UK, ITW is designed to support businesses looking to secure their first export contract or grow existing international sales.

Over five days, attendees can access expert advice on various topics, from exporting to Eastern Europe to strategies for igniting business growth using AI in marketing and sales.

Other highlights include sessions on pricing strategies, exploring retail opportunities in the US, and gaining insights into consumer behaviour in markets like Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

With international trade becoming increasingly important for businesses, ITW offers businesses valuable insights. According to Santander UK’s latest Trade Barometer, 52% of UK businesses believe international trade is growing in importance, especially as a way to mitigate economic challenges.

This is a significant rise from just 21% in 2021, showing the growing confidence of UK companies in expanding globally. 36% of businesses now feel “very confident” about trading internationally, up from 22% last year.

One of the key features of this year’s ITW is the introduction of new digital tools to help businesses thrive in global markets. These include the Export Support Directory, a platform that connects UK companies with trusted suppliers across 190 markets worldwide, and personalised guidance available through the newly revamped great.gov.uk website.

The week will also feature expert-led sessions and the opportunity to hear from successful UK businesses that have already made their mark on the global stage. Attendees can get important insights from these “Export Champions,” who will share their experiences and offer practical advice for overcoming challenges in international trade.

Last year’s ITW had over 3,200 businesses registered. This year is expected to be bigger with more resources available to help UK businesses take their next step in global expansion.

Registration is now open, and businesses are encouraged to sign up early to take full advantage of the free events and expert advice available during International Trade Week 2024.
