A new director of ICT will start at Norfolk County Council in early August, it has emerged…
Socitm president Geoff Connell has been appointed as the head of ICT and information management at Norfolk County Council.
The recruitment process, which started in February, will see Connell step into the £115,000 position. Connell is the current director of ICT at the London Boroughs of Newham and Havering and has extensive experience in the field.
He is being brought on at a time when Norfolk has a series of major projects underway. This includes a partnership with HP Enterprise to deliver a £26m transformation programme called ‘Digital Norfolk Ambition’. The county council also recently launched its Yotta highways system and published tender notice through the Official Journal of the European Union for a new social care system.
Executive director of resources, Anne Gibson said: “I’m pleased to confirm that we have appointed Geoff Connell as our new Head of IT and IM, after a comprehensive search and assessment process.
“Geoff is currently director of ICT for the London Boroughs of Newham and Havering and has a number of years experience across London boroughs.
“He has a strong record of achievement, with experience of the creation and delivery of new IT service delivery and shared service models and of IT delivery and IT transformation. He is also the current president of Socitm, the professional body for IT and IM staff.
“Some of you may also be aware of him, through recent work to introduce a new CRM system to NCC, based on the system developed by Newham.”
