Ever Dye – Innovative dyeing process

Ever Dye’s innovative pigments solve the main source of GHG emissions of the textile industry : the dyeing process

The textile industry is one of the most polluting in the world: it is responsible for 8 to 10% of the global carbon emissions. It is also the second-largest water polluter, generating 20% of wastewater worldwide. The good news is that we can do something about it, and renew our relationship with the clothes we love.

What is the problem?

Current dyeing process effluents charged with synthetic dyes, pigments, chemicals and auxiliaries have devastating effects on the fauna, flora and human health as they are often dumped into ditches, streams, and rivers. Not a good look – especially when you learn that textile dyeing is responsible for 3% of all global greenhouse gas emissions. It is also a highly energy consuming process that requires most of the time a massive combustion of fossil fuel to be efficient. As a result, carbon emissions are extremely heavy on the earth’s bill.

Our patented solution

Our innovation solves two problems at once: the synthesis and the attachment of dyes on fabric. Made out of organic and inorganic natural elements, it steps away from petroleum-based dyes, making it eco-friendly. Combining pigment with a biosourced organic polymer binding agent, it offers perfect electrostatic attachment on the fabric while using no heat and shorter dyeing procedures

Two chemical solutions that act like a magnet :

A pretreatment & a pigment

The negatively charged pretreatment acts on the surface of the fiber and creates anchoring sites. Then, the positively charged pigment made of organic waste & minerals attaches on anchoring sites, without the need for high temperatures. Our solution is based on 5 Years of academic research.

Key facts

We are currently working with our industry partners to precisely assess the performance of our product on energy, time and temperature savings. Our validated pilot results allow us to promise the following:

  • We drastically reduce the energy needed for the dye step, therefore drastically reducing the amount of GHG emissions
  • We lower the heat of the dyebath from 95° to ambient temperature
  • We operate about 5 times faster than traditional methods
  • We pledge to use no petrochemicals
  • We require no infrastructure change
  • We can implement our solution without any investment / CAPEX needed

The path towards sustainable fashion design, production and lifecycle can only be systemic. That is why we work in close collaboration with brands and companies engaged in research, development and application of innovative, cleaner processes and sustainable behavior patterns advocacy to create tomorrow’s fashion.
