This solution is upcycling food waste to protein and omega-3 oils by producing growth media for fermentation. By growing microalgae and microbes we can produce sustainable feed for the aquaculture industry.
Food waste is a global problem and the traditional waste management solutions like landfills, incineration, composting, and biogas are all emitting greenhouse gases and polluting water and air. Food waste is responsible for 9 % of CO2 emissions and 11 % of Methane emissions.
Greentech Innovators have a solution to this problem. By using biotechnology, we can utilize the nutrient in food waste and convert it to a high-quality media for fermentation. Scientific and commercial production gave excellent results compared to traditional growth media. Industrial scale production gave superior results, and we are ready to scale the solution internationally.
Reducing EU greenhouse gas emissions
EU has great ambitions in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and food waste. LCA analysis show that our solution is reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 98 % compared to composting. By scaling our solution, we may support EU in reaching their ambitious goals in reducing Greenhouse gases and upcycling food waste to feed by using our circular solution.

Feed companies are looking for new and sustainable feed ingredients substituting Fish oil, the dominating source of omega-3 oil. Fish oil production cannot increase as global fish stocks are overfished. Microalgae production is based on sugar as carbon source, but we can offer a cheaper and more sustainable alternative.
