Aiding 18,000 affected individuals in Eastern Bangladesh
The aid is poised to address the immediate needs of over 18,000 individuals severely affected by the flooding. Bandarban, Rangamati, and Cox’s Bazar districts, hardest hit by the crisis, are expected to receive significant relief from this support
Humanitarian organisations join forces
Start Fund Bangladesh will work hand in hand with well-established humanitarian organisations, namely Caritas Bangladesh and Action Aid Bangladesh, to ensure the smooth distribution of the allocated funds. This collaborative approach is designed to enhance the overall impact of the relief efforts and aligns with the ongoing response of the Government of Bangladesh.

Sarah Cooke, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, emphasised the UK’s commitment, stating, “In the face of the flooding catastrophe in eastern Bangladesh, the UK stands in unwavering solidarity with the affected communities.” She announced the allocation of £250,000 in humanitarian aid to address the pressing needs arising from the flooding.
This financial assistance is intended to cater to immediate necessities, encompassing essential relief provisions such as food, clean water, sanitation and hygiene supplies, shelter materials, and direct cash transfers. The aid is projected to directly benefit more than 18,000 individuals navigating the aftermath of the flooding.
Moreover, this allocation underscores the UK’s consistent commitment to bolstering disaster preparedness and response within Bangladesh. By reinforcing the ongoing efforts of the Bangladeshi government, this initiative emphasises the significance of international cooperation during times of crisis.
